Hi all – before you read our great reviews here is a little bit of history on how I came to own Moorview. We, my two brothers and sister grew up living at the bottom of the hill at 5 St Dunstans Road. Mum from Plymouth and Dad a Yorkshire man (a sailor when they met). Eventually in 1958 Dad decided that we needed to move up North to his home town (no beach) to ‘get us all a good career’. He had high hopes for us!!
For me and Mum especially a huge part of us never left. As soon as I could I became a regular visitor. Fast forward here I am pursuing my dreams to come back. For now, I am happy to share Moorview with like-minded people looking for somewhere to relax and enjoy Salcombe too. I am pictured here with my Joanne who also shares and understands my love for Salcombe. We hope you will share our happiness too. Still ‘up north’ our good friend and neighbour Pauline looks after Moorview for our guests.

Well what a find! The whole setup was perfect for us, location, space, two tv’s, washer and dryer, plus ample garden for the dogs.
Beach close by, walks, the list goes on. The only slight downside was the weather but that conservatory made for lazy mornings while we waited for the sun to appear.
We have had a wonderful stay (and love the decor) Looking forward to next year already.

We have had a fabulous week at Moorview. A very welcoming place for all! We went to Hope Cove, North Sands and Slapton Sands and found them such beautiful beaches. We would recommend Moorview to anyone because it caters for all. Our son loved crabbing at the quay.

We have had a wonderful week at Moorview. As most of your guests have commented, it’s like home from home. Extremely tidy, clean and so well equipped. We have been visiting Salcombe for over 15 years and have stayed in numerous properties, including in the centre of town. Moorview is definitely one of the most comfortable and best value to date. The welcome card, milk, biscuits, dog bed and blankets (oh and bowls) were a bonus. Thank you so much. Harvey, our 10 year old lab loved it here too and the safe enclosed garden is a godsend. We love your deck! The weather has been up and down but we’ve still had a fabulous holiday. We hope to return.

We have enjoyed our 2nd visit to Moorview. We find it lovely, comfortable and a relaxing place to be. Milo made himself at home straight away – he loves the grassy garden (which is nice and secure). We were pleased to visit Oversbecks this time, as it is now dog friendly. We also took the ferry to South Sands and enjoyed the scenery while sitting in the cafe. (This is dog friendly though the beach isn’t)

Beautiful Moorview – We enjoyed our stay. Comfortable beds, luxury towels, well equipped kitchen. Garden is so perfect and safe for doggies to have some freedom. Lovely homely touches with the local pictures and ornaments. Enjoyed ‘The Berry’ woodland walks. The weather was a bit too kind with high temperatures, but at least it wasn’t cold and raining. We loved Salcombe with quaint shops and delis. Magnificent gardens to enjoy as we walked to North Sands. Beaches are just stunning, with crystal clear water. Thank you for welcoming us to your beautiful home.

We have had another fabulous week at Moorview. Our 6th visit. We love our time here. The weather has been amazing, warm and sunny every day. We visited Overbecks for the first time. The gardens are stunning.
We walked to Ashby’s and continued over to Snapes Point then back towards Lower Batson along the creek back to Salcombe, beautiful scenery along the way. We have used the car once this week to go for lunch at our favourite restaurant – The Cricket Inn at Beesands.
As usual we look forward to returning to Moorview.

Charming bungalow with beautiful outdoor space. Nicely situated for a walk into town – Lots of exercise! Perfect for our 2 small dogs who loved the garden and great that there is a field for them to run in just a short walk up the hill. We have been very comfortable here – Thank you. The weather was a touch damp but it didn’t spoil anything.

Wonderful stay at Moorview, perfect home for our stay here and so many lovely extra touches and ideal for our dog Buster. Had lovely meals out at The Fortescue Inn, The Kings Arms, Victoria Inn and also The Ferry Inn with it’s gorgeous views. We also loved the cocktails in Salcombe Gin. Took the ferry over to Batson Creek and it’s absolutely lovely beaches. Had a lovely time (despite mixed weather) and sad to be leaving.

Another amazing stay at Moorview, number 6 and counting…! Lots of fun on the beaches, Posie is walking now so Seren and Posie both loved the sea and making sandcastles. We also went to Cranch’s everynight of course! Visited Overbecks and had a picnic at the highest point of the garden, rode a choppy South Sands Ferry haha! We love staying here so much and we always feel so sad to leave.

This is our 5th stay at Moorview. As you can see we never tire of coming here. There is so much to see and do. We took the bus to Totnes and picked up the steam train to Buckfastleigh on the South Devon Railway. We also booked into the Crab Shed once again. The food is amazing. The sandwiches and salads at The Salcombe Deli are delicious, such good quality. We can also recommend The Salcombe Meat Company and farm shop on Main Road, less than 10 minutes walk away. The week has been warm and sunny too.

We had a lovely time, thank you for the doggie treats and as for the scones they were delicious. The weather was mixed and the winds high… Storm Ciaren.. But it didn’t stop us, visiting Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Torquay and driving through Totnes.
The bungalow was and is perfect, we will recommend Moorview to friends and family. The beds are so comfy, we all slept so well. The dogs – Jak, Mollie and Mable loved the beaches and all three have put weight on, Mollie fell in love with the black dog bed. We ate at The Fortescue in Salcombe, the food was absolutely beautiful, service was good, and the price was about average for the area. Everything we needed was catered for, places were easy to get to, although some roads were quite narrow to navigate, but we had loads of fun.

We have had a wonderful time. Delighted with Moorview, it has catered for all of our needs. Spotless and so comfortable. Everything that we needed was always at our fingertips. Definitely a ‘home from home’. Ideally positioned in a beautiful part of the country. We were able to explore Dartmouth, Kingsbridge, Burgh Island and many hidden gems. Nell loved the beaches and was delighted with Moorview’s ample garden space. Thank you so much for the doggie treats, you thought of everything with regard to keeping the little mutt safe and clean. We have had a wonderful holiday staying in Moorview. The house is so spacious and thoughtfully equipped with everything we could possibly need. We have stayed in many holiday homes but this is by far the best. Salcombe is a gorgeous place, we really enjoyed spending time here and outings to the many attractions on offer. Our 2 year old daughter particularly loved Pennywell Farm and has not stopped talking about the piglets. We were also lucky enough to have sunny weather on our first week so explored some of the beautiful local beaches. The provision of chairs and beach equipment was a welcome surprise. Our daughter also thoroughly enjoyed playing in the large garden and having the run of the house where the layout makes it easy to keep an eye on her. We have had such a fantastic holiday, thank you so much for sharing your lovely home.

We’ve had another lovely week at Moorview. We did some of our favourite excursions, Greenway via the ferry at Dartmouth, Coleton Fishacre and a lovely woodland walk followed by lunch at Avon Mill. We did a steam railway trip today from Paignton to Kingswear which was a good choice on a slightly showery day. We always find Moorview comfortable and welcoming each time we come.

We had a great week at Wendy’s place. Walking distance to central Salcombe and driveway parking made it easy to get anywhere we wished. Our dogs loved sunbathing in the conservatory and enclosed garden and the views are great, we were even treated to a perfect sunset one evening.

We had a brilliant stay. Excellent communication both before and during our stay. Very dog friendly and Wendy was really helpful when we had to use the local vets. The location is great. Easy walk into town and also to North Sands (check the tides) The house has absolutely everything you could need and Wendy even provided dog bowls and a bed for our dog. Useful outside dog washing area too! Lovely walks in he area. Would 100% recommend this as a place to stay.

We had a wonderful time at Moorview! This charming bungalow has it all, including a potato masher that seems to be the one thing missing in most places, was a sign to make bangers and mash. Luckily there is a farm shop with gluten free sausages only a short walk away. The produce is locally sourced, with some products coming from a farm named after my Maori name Terawhiti (aka Rawhiti)
The house is excellent and was well equipped for everything we needed. The large conservatory was where we spent most of our time. The enclosed garden was ideal for our kids – a lovely sizeable decked area. The nearby playpark and North Sands beach were within walking distance (our 9 year old twins loved the playground as it has a zip wire). The house is a 15 minute walk away from the beaches and the town. If you are an early riser, we recommend taking a stroll into town when it is quiet. The views are amazing, and the surrounding area reminds me of my youth in NZ.
Overall we had the most amazing holiday! Wendy is the kindest and most informative host I have dealt with on AirBnb. I highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in this area.

We’ve had another lovely week at Moorview. We visited Overbecks and Coleton Fishacre as they were favourites last time. We took the ferry this time to Overbecks which made it a more interesting journey especially as it was a bit rough.
There is also a lovely walk from Avon Garden Centre at Loddiswell which we did again, followed by a nice lunch at the cafe. We parked at NT East Soar yesterday, walked to Overbecks over the fields and as it was closed walked onto South Sands and had lunch on the terrace of the South Sands hotel which we enjoyed. The walk back through Tor Woods was a bit challenging! We’ve been very comfortable and Milo enjoyed this first visit to Salcombe. Thanks

A return visit for us and what a fabulous week we have had once again. We love Moorview so much and feel very relaxed here. Salcombe is lovely with beautiful views. We managed to get booked in for lunch at The Crab Shed. What an experience that was! The food was amazing. Lunch at The Winking Prawn was also good. We drove out to Beesands and had lunch at The Cricket Inn again. It didn’t disappoint. While there we walked from Beesands to Slapton Sands and back which was a a lovely walk. As the weather was so good we decided to walk to Bolt Head one day. We will definitely be returning to Moorview. We can’t wait.

Lovely holiday, fantastic bungalow! Your attention to detail is amazing, you thought of everything we needed and even things we didn’t know we needed! We will be happy to recommend ‘Moorview’ to our friends and family especially the ones with dogs.

Another lovely week at Moorview. We visited Greenway, great breakfasts at ‘Sailor V’, BBQ at the Winking Prawn and swimming at the outdoor (heated) pool just some of the highlights. Lots of sunbathing and evening drinks on the decking and we love the new outdoor furniture.

Great place to spend our 52nd Wedding Anniversary. The bungalow was so welcoming with all its bits and pieces and loved the key ring gift. Location was great for getting about and dogs settled well – garden was ideal and safe to let them in. Liked the Ashby’s shop – sells everything – they do a super pack of 4 soft white rolls (going to take some home). Think we covered most places and despite the poor viz and rain we had a good holiday. Beesands was free parking and dogs had a great run. The Cricket pub was doing a good trade (fancy food) but we just had a shandy and a basket of chips outside.

This has been one of the best holidays we have ever had! Moorview has been such a lovely place to stay and the thought given to what to provide your guests is fantastic. Coffee machine, outside seating and loungers, everything you need… and for our two dogs they have wanted for nothing. Our collie Bella has used every toy and loves the dog beds. Salcombe is beautiful and we have been spoilt by the weather, with sun and blue skies everyday. As one of us is an avid Agatha Christie fan, we’ve enjoyed tracking down film locations for ‘Peril at the end House’ (The Moult) and the hotel scenes (Salcombe Apartments) and Southsands beach (Towards Zero). We loved visiting Greenway House, her holiday home. Only wish we’d known you could take a ferry from Dartmouth right up to the house, but we’ll do that next time!! We visited Hope Cove, which is stunning, with lovely cliff top walks affording you views of Burgh Island (Evil under the sun). There’s a lovely bathing area near the lifeboat launch in Hope Cove as well. In Salcombe, we’ve tried the Winking Prawn (North Sands Beach). The staff were so welcoming and lovely and the food was very nice. We also had a drink in Island Street Bar and Grill at night. Sitting outside, we felt like we were abroad (only better). Thank you Wendy for sharing your lovely, cozy Moorview with us, we will definitely be coming back.

We had a wonderful stay and loved everything about the house. A few previous reviews mentioned the hill but I have to say it felt like the Salcombe Ice Cream was worked off every day so we loved it! There were so many useful extras in the shed and the space worked great for us. Lovely shower, which is always important to us! Can’t recommend enough and we will definitely be back!

Wow what a lovely house, absolutely everything we needed was here. We spent all of the time in the conservatory and on the deck – Lola, our dog loved it! Lovely dinner at The Winking Prawn, North Beach. Lovely coastal walk to Gara Rock from Mill Bay, Callum loved the boat across. So much going on in town. South Devon Chilli Farm was a great adventure. Our first visit to Salcombe was a most enjoyable experience at ‘Moorview’ we found the perfect holiday home which was fully equipped for every need with a wonderful conservatory where we could relax after our daily sightseeing. Salcombe has an abundance of lovely restaurants and ‘watering holes’ – Fore Street is full of designer shops with something for everyone. All in all, a most enjoyable holiday and we will definitely be booking again next year.

We have stayed at Moorview twice, a lovely bungalow, very spacious with a large conservatory, comfortable, great location with fantastic views of the Salcombe countryside and Dartmoor. The short walk into Salcombe provides you with fantastic views of Salcombe Estuary, and you can enjoy lots of lovely scenic walks and there is a fantastic bakery nearby. Moorview has everything you could possible need and is the perfect base to explore all that Salcombe has to offer. We had a very enjoyable time and never wanted to leave.

Moorview was just the perfect place for us. We have two dogs and it is difficult trying to find a property that allows two dogs but this house was super. Secure large grassed garden at the rear and great walks nearby. The house was lovely, bright and airy and the conservatory is huge. It gets all the sun and with the decking area it’s great for summer BBQs. Very well equipped and made our holiday so relaxing. Will definitely book again for next year Salcombe is a must!
